    EARTH FRIENDLY

Casa de las Bugambilias B&B is commited to sustainable tourism. We try to do our best and through small differences, we can help our local economy, community and environment.
Below is an eco-friendly list of what you can expect to find at Casa de las Bugambilias:

  • Since last year we have become members of the ConservAgua program. ConservAgua is a program that promotes the sustainable use of natural resources, specially water. The program includes hotels, as well as tourists that visit them. Personnel training and guests' awareness are two important factors for the success of the program. Objectives:
To achieve rational use of water through awareness of consume, reuse and recycle of this life-giving liquid. To reduce polluting agents and waste of water through programs that reduce laundry works at hotels. To demonstrate that environmental protection is profitable.
  • Most of the food served at breakfast we try to consume from local and organic growers, we also try to use products from fair trade.
  • We use biodegradable soaps and cleaning products.
  • We replace individual soaps and shampoos with containers that can be replaced in bulk. Shampoos and conditioners are all environmentally friendly NISBIIA. Handmade soaps by Espuma de Luna.
  • Organic waste is disposed of to feed live stock (pigs).
  • For the water heaters, washing machine and dryer, we try to choose amongst the most energy efficient on the market.
  • Most of our toilet cisterns use the minimum amount of water needed per flush.
  • We change our guests linens every 4-5 days to save water. And we allow our guests to choose whether they need new towels and sheets.
  • We switch over to energy efficient light bulbs.
  • We use proper signage. Help travelers learn the history of the house and our community.
  • We share information about local environmental attractions, bioregional news and local environmental groups.
